Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the Cincinnati Reds and I will talk about who the Reds acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.
Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Reds Trade Homer Bailey and 2 minor leaguers to the Dodgers for Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, and Kyle Farmer
This was not a trade I was expecting during the offseason, but here we are. The Reds got some good players like Puig and Kemp, but I don’t see why they made this trade. The Reds are still in a major rebuild mode and they traded two top 30 team prospects to the Dodgers because God knows they need more good young players.
Starting Lineup:
C: Tucker Barnhart
1B: Joey Votto
2B: Scooter Gennett
3B: Eugenio Suarez
SS: Jose Peraza
LF: Matt Kemp
CF: Jesse Winker
RF: Yasiel Puig
Starting Rotation:
1. Sonny Gray
2. Alex Wood
3. Luis Castillo
4. Tanner Roark
5. Anthony DeSclafani
Offseason Grade: D
Prediction:
The Reds have no future at the moment and it sucks that players like Gennett and Votto, especially Votto, have to be stuck on this team. The Reds are probably in the best division in baseball right now so I expect a very poor record from them once again. They will finish in 5th and hopefully, they let go some of their stars and let them shine on actual teams.
