Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the Cleveland Indians and I will talk about who the Indians acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.
Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Tyson Ross signs a 1 year $5.7 million contract
Tigers sign veteran pitcher Tyson Ross and its a fine move. Ross has been on the downfall of his career though as he hasn’t able to improve over the past couple of seasons.
Josh Harrison signs a 1 year $2 million contract
Same with Ross, Harrison is a good signing, but he hasn’t been his best in the last couple of seasons. Harrison is a former 2-time All-Star, but his hitting has gone down and he hasn’t been reliable to stay on the field. Harrison has only played more than 140 games once in his career so maybe this season he can prove himself and get himself a nice contract next season.
Starting Lineup:
C: Grayson Greiner
1B: Niko Goodrum
2B: Josh Harrison
3B: Jeimer Candelario
SS: Jordy Mercer
LF: Christin Stewart
CF: JaCoby Jones
RF: Nick Castellanos
DH: Miguel Cabrera
Pitching Rotation
1. Jordan Zimmerman
2. Matthew Boyd
3. Matt More
4. Tyson Ross
5. Daniel Noris
Offseason Grade: C+
Prediction:
The Tigers are in full rebuild and they won’t be doing anything this season. If the Tigers want to continue this rebuild they should trade Castellanos and Zimmerman this season. They could get some nice prospects for both these players because there is no point of waisting these talents, especially Castellanos.
