2019 MLB Offseason Breakdown: Oakland Athletics

Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the Oakland Athletics and I will talk about who the Athletics acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.

Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Jed Lowrie signs a 2 year $20 million contract with the Mets

The Athletics lose one of their best hitters from last season. Lowrie had a .267 batting average and had a career high in home runs and RBI’s, not to mention he made his first career All-Star game.

Starting Lineup:
C: Josh Phegley
1B: Mark Canha
2B: Jurickson Profar
3B: Matt Chapman
SS: Marcus Semien
LF: Robbie Grossman
CF: Ramon Laureano
RF: Stephen Piscotty
DH: Kris Davis

Starting Rotation:
1. Mike Fiers
2. Marco Estrada
3. Brett Anderson
4. Frankie Montas
5. Aaron Brooks

Offseason Grade: C-

Prediction:
The Athletics made a very shocking postseason appearance last season where they were the second Wild Card, but lost to the Yankees. This season though I see them competing with the Angels, but just missing out. The A’s are screwed with Sean Menea out for the season and with Matt Olson going to miss a month, that sets them back.
