Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the San Francisco Giants and I will talk about who the Giants acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.
Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Giants resign Derek Holland to a 1 year $7 million contract
Giants bring back Holland to their pitching rotation and its a fine move. Holland went 7-9 last season with a 3.57 ERA.
Starting Lineup:
C: Buster Posey
1B: Brandon Belt
2B: Joe Panik
3B: Evan Longoria
SS: Brandon Crawford
LF: Mac Williamson
CF: Steven Duggar
RF: Austin Slater
Starting Pitching:
1. Madison Bumgardner
2. Dereck Rodriguez
3. Derek Holland
4. Chris Stratton
5. Jeff Samardzija
Offseason Grade: C-
Prediction:
The Giants don’t have a lot of things going for them this season, but what they do have is it is Bruce Bochy’s last season of the manager of the Giants. He will retire after this year and the Giants would like to give him his swan song, but sadly they won’t be able to. The Giants just aren’t a good team and they will finish 4th in the NL West. Hopefully, for Bochy, the Giants can screw over a team at the end and give this season some purpose.
