Here is my MLB 2019 Offseason Breakdown Blog. This time it is on the Seattle Mariners and I will talk about who the Mariners acquired and lost, their starting lineup and pitching rotation and my prediction for them this season. Let’s get into the blog.
Offseason Acquisitions and Loses:
Mariners trade James Paxton for 3 minor league prospects
The Mariners first trade of the offseason and they get a very good prospect from the Yankees. They got Justus Sheffield who is the #5 prospect for lefty pitchers.
Mariners trade Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz for Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzack and 3 minor league prospects
The second trade of the offseason, the Mariners get rid of Cano and Diaz to continue the rebuild and get really good prospects for them. Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn are two top 100 prospects in the MLB.
Mariners trade Jean Segura, James Pazos, and Juan Nicasio for Carlos Santana and J.P. Crawford
Another trade as the Mariners now get rid of Jean Segura but didn’t get much for him. And for Santana, well…
Mariners trade Carlos Santana to the Indians and get Edwin Encarnacion and cash from the Rays
The last and final trade for the Mariners, they get rid of Santana right away and get Encarnacion for him. Fine trade as Encarnacion will be the DH for the Mariners.
Nelson Cruz signs a 1 year $14.3 million contract with the Twins
The Mariners get Edwin because there regular DH jumped ships to the Twins. Nelson Cruz is one of the best power hitters in the MLB and he will be missed.

1B: Ryon Healy
2B: Dee Gordon
3B: Dylan Moore
SS: Tim Beckham
LF: Domingo Santana
CF: Mallex Smith
RF: Mitch Haniger
DH: Edwin Encarnacion
Starting Rotation:
1. Marco Gonzalez
2. Yusei Kikuchi
3. Mike Leake
4. Felix Hernandez
5. Wade LeBlanc
Offseason Grade: A
Prediction:
The Mariners had the great offseason because they fully committed to the rebuild and got some really good prospects. But right now they are not a good team. The Mariners will finish 4th in the AL West. At least they aren’t the worst team in the AL West.
