2019 NFL Week 1 Picks

The NFL season really begins today and that means I make my much-anticipated return to the blog game. I went on a sabbatical* and now I am ready for my return. And it’s a great time to return as the NFL season really begins today. It is time to make myself look stupid and try and predict some football games.

But First, have you seen the multiple podcasts that I do. Well, click here if you are interested in me and my friend talk about sports and life and making you laugh uncontrollably. Or are you a Giants fan that loves the Giants. Well me and another friend have a podcast just for that. Click here if you are interested.

So last year what I would do is talk about every game that was going on for the week and it wasn’t very good blogs. It was very repetitive blogs so what I will do this year is show my predictions for the games and for 9 of the games going on (4 for the 1:00 games, 3 for the 4:00 games, and the SNF and MNF games) I will give my full breakdown of the game. These are the games I’m most confident in and I know I will 100% get right. Also, for this week, I will do 10 games since there are two MNF games this week. So with that out of the way lets talk some football.

Baltimore Ravens (-7) V. Miami Dolphins
So this is a very dangerous game to start the year off with. The Dolphins are SOOOOO bad. Not having Tunsil, Stills, and Alonso are such HUGE loses. Also with the Dolphins players wanting to riot against their own team is just fucking hilarious and they are going against a pretty good team against the Ravens, who are a playoff-hopeful team this season. The Ravens just made the playoffs last season and are looking to repeat that this season, but the only problem is the Dolphins have some black magic on their side. More specifically FitzMagic. I don’t know how you can bet against this man, especially when he always has a couple good games every season.

Game Winner: Ravens
Pick: Dolphins +7
O/U: U40

Tennesse Titans V. Cleveland Browns (-5.5)
The 2019 Browns bandwagon starts today and they start off as the favorite in God knows how long to start the season. The Browns hype is real and I am 100% on board with it. This team is electric and I am excited to see how this team plays. On the Titans, they have an interesting team. I don’t know how they will play because they do have some really talented players, but Mariota just doesn’t do it for me. He is such an inconsistent QB and he will really hurt this team, especially in a division that is so unpredictable this season. With that said I see the Browns winning this game, but I hate this spread. 5.5 is pretty big, but if I am buying into this Browns hype, I gotta believe.

Game Winner: Browns
Pick: Browns -5.5
O/U: O45

Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5) V. Jacksonville Jaguars
This is going to be a very compelling game to watch because the Chiefs are going to be a very interesting team this season. The Chiefs didn’t do a lot this offseason to show that they improved. Their defense is still not good, but their biggest problem, in my opinion, is at running back. When the Chiefs had noted scumbag Kareem Hunt last season, they were untouchable. No one could stop that offense, even with them having one of the worst defense in the league. Now they have a major hole in their offense and I can see it hurting them this year.

Then you look at the Jaguars, they have one of the best defense in the league. Now they did lose some notable players this offseason, but I still see them as a defense to be feared. Also, at QB, I think Nick Foles is a perfect fit in Jacksonville. They just need Leonard Fournet to show up. My pick might be surprising but I am confident in the pick.

Game Winner: Jaguars
Pick: Jaguars +3.5
O/U: O50.5

Buffalo Bills V. New York Jets (-2.5)
The Bills start the season on the road, and as a BIG Bills supporter, I don’t see this as a good game for them. I am very impressed with what the Jets did this offseason, I was shocked they actually got Le’Veon. I do think they the Jets will be a team competing for the playoffs this year and a good game one will show that this year. This will be a very close game, but the Jets will have the edge this game.

Game Winner: Jets
Pick: Jets (-2.5)
O/U: O41

Detroit Lions (-3.0) V. Arizona Cardinals
This is going to be a very terrible one-sided game and that’s because the Cardinals will be one of the worst teams in football this season. The Cardinals have no one to support Kyler Murray on offense and he will be killed. Also, I feel like the Lions are always a consistent team every year. They might not be the best team in the NFL, but they always get a good amount of wins, especially in this decade.

Game Winner: Lions
LOCK OF THE WEEK: Lions -3.0
O/U: U46.5

New York Giants V. Dallas Cowboys (-7.0)
Teams that have been the talks of the offseason shockingly square off once again week one. Surprisingly tho the Giants and the Cowboys are not on SNF, but that is because the commissioner of the NFL is too scared to go to Foxborough. But as a Giants fan, I am completely fine with the Giants not having to play a prime time game. They always get embarrassed and with Zeke back the embarrassment could get worse. But I think the Giants will shock some people today. I think the Giants will keep it close and it should be a fun game to watch.

Game Winner: Cowboys
Pick: Giants +7
O/U: O45.5

Pittsburgh Steelers V. New England Patriots (-5.5)
The Sunday Night Football game features two of the biggest teams in football, and to be honest with you I do not care about the game. I know the Patriots are good. They will be good again this season and only be better when Antonio Brown gets into that lineup. It just that I don’t think the Steelers will be a very good team this season. I just cannot trust Big Ben anymore as he is getting up there in age and losing someone like Brown does not make your offense better.

Game Winner: Patriots
Pick: Patriots -5.5
O/U: O49.5

Houston Texans V. New Orleans Saints (-7.0)
The Texans enter this season a way different team then what they were at the end of the preseason.  Getting rid of Clowney, which I think was a great move even if you didn’t get much for him, and adding Tunsil and Stills, this team is completely different now. The Texans are going to have some big problems to start off the season as Tunsil has to play a new position and he is playing next to a rookie. Tunsil needs time to learn this position and it could end up hurting the Texans for a week or two.

For the Saints, this offense is just a wagon. By the end of the regular season last year, the Saint offense was the best in the league in my opinion. They did lose a valuable running back in Mark Ingram but replaced him with a pretty good running back in Latavius Murray. The Saints should be able to blowout this game if their defense can play some good football and take advantage of the Texans weaknesses.

Game Winner: Saints
Pick: Saints -7.0
O/U: O52.5

Denver Broncos (-2.5) V. Oakland Raiders
So without Antonio Brown, no one cares about this game right. The Raiders are a dumpster fire and have no one else to blame but themselves. I mean it’s not like AB was a headcase in Pittsburgh and secretly recorded his coach there. So with no AB, I don’t know if I will stay up for this game and it’s not just because of the Raiders. The Broncos are just as much as a shitty team. I mean who cares for Joe Flacco and a defense that is just average at this point.

Who am I kidding, I’m still going to watch this game.

Game Winner: Broncos
Pick: Broncos -2.5
O/U: U42.5

Those are my top 10 games for this week one slate. Like I said earlier, I will do 9 games for the rest of the season it just because week one always has 2 Monday Night Football games. Now I will just go game by game and show who I think is going to win, my pick, and the O/U for the rest of the remaining games.

Atlanta Falcons V. Minnesota Vikings (-3.5)
Game Winner: Vikings
Pick: Vikings -3.5
O/U: O47.0

Los Angeles Rams (-1.5) V. Carolina Panthers
Game Winner: Rams
Pick: Rams -1.5
O/U: O49.5

Washington Redskins V. Philadelphia Eagles (-10.0)
Game Winner: Eagles
Pick: Redskins +10.0
O/U: U44.5

Cincinnati Bengals V. Seattle Seahawks (-9.5)
Game Winner: Seahawks
Pick: Seahawks -9.5
O/U: O44.5

Indianapolis Colts V. Los Angeles Chargers (-6.5)
Game Winner: Chargers
Pick: Colts +6.5
O/U: O44.5

San Francisco 49ers V. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1.0)
Game Winner: 49ers
Pick: 49ers +1.0
O/U: U51

Also to mention at the end of every blog I will show you my Thursday Night Picks. I don’t want to do a full blog for the game so I will show my picks and follow the honor system on this one.

Green Bay Packers V. Chicago Bears (-3.0)
Game Winner: Packers
Pick: Packers +3.0
O/U: O46.5

That will do it for this blog. Let’s all have a great Week 1 NFL Sunday because goddamn football is fucking BACK!!!! *I did not take a sabbatical, I got very lazy during the summer.
