MLB 2020 Offseason Breakdown: Baltimore Orioles

Back for another installment of my MLB Offseason Breakdown for the 2020 season. If you are new here, what I do is write about all the acquisitions and losses the team had, my projected lineups and rotations, grade for the offseason, and my prediction for the team in the 2020 season. Let’s get into it.

Acquisitions and Losses:
SS Jose Iglesias
signs a 1 year $3 million contract
Really the only big thing to happen for Baltimore this off-season and it was a good move. Iglesias is a very consistent player who hit .288 with 62 runs and 59 RBIs last season with the Angels. Orioles trade 2B Jonathan Villar to Miami for a minor league prospect It was time for Baltimore to move on from Villar. Villar has been a good player for them for the past 1 and a half seasons so it was smart to get a prospect for him instead of seeing him walk.

Projected Lineup:
C: Pedro Severino
1B: Chris Davis
2B: Hanser Alberto
3B: Rio Ruiz
SS: Jose Iglesias
LF: Anthony Santander
CF: Austin Hays
RF: Trey Mancini
DH: Renato Nunez

Projected Rotation
1. John Means
2. Alex Cobb
3. Kohl Stewart
4. Asher Wojciechowski
5. Wade LeBlanc

Offseason Grade: D+

2020 Prediction:
I mean come on. We all the Orioles will once again be one of the worst teams in baseball again and will finish 5th in the AL East. I mean Chris Davis is still a starting player, that says it all.
