Man what a wild season it has been. With everything going on in this shitty world, it is nice to finally get some postseason baseball. It sucked that it was only a shortened season, but we should be happy that we have the sport and we have the playoffs starting. So let’s get into my predictions for this crazy MLB Postseason:
#1 Rays V. #8 Blue Jays
The Rays are going to win this series with no doubt in my mind. Hot take I know, but the Blue Jays were dealt a bad hand for this series. The only team that could have stopped the Rays would have been the Yankees.
Prediction: Rays in 2
#4 Indians V. #5 Yankees
This is the best Wild Card Series matchup as we have the Yankees offense going against the Indians great starting pitching. With it being the best series, it is also the hardest to pick. I really have no clue in who is going to win this series. The Yankees offense is good, but at times they can find themselves struggling, just look at this series against the Marlins. They had trouble winning one game against a Miami team that is not very good, but the same thing could be said about Cleveland.
Their offense struggled for a little a couple weeks ago where they lost eight straight games, but they have been hot at the end of the season winning nine out of their last eleven games. With that in mind I have Cleveland winning their series. They have the better pitching and with their hot streak, everything tells me they are winning it.
Prediction: Indians in 2
#3 Twins V. #6 Astros
For the next series I do not have much to say besides the Twins being the better team. The Astros have struggled all season long and with them missing out on Verlander, it puts even more confidence that the Twins win this series. The Twins pitching has been good this season and I trust their offense even when they have not been their best.
Prediction: Twins in 2
#2 Athletics V. #7 White Sox
This is another good series going on in the Wild Card round, and I am considering an upset. Both of these teams are very evenly matchup, with not a lot of differences between the two. Both pitching staffs looked good all season long, but the White Sox offense gets the slight edge. I really am having difficulties choosing who is going to win the series, but I will give the slight edge to Oakland for having the playoff experience, albeit, not being a lot.
Prediction: Athletics in 3
#1 Dodgers V. #8 Brewers
Now onto the NL side, and just like the AL’s 1v8 matchup, the #8 seed stands no chance. The Brewers are just not a good team anymore. They had so much hype a few seasons ago, but now they barely made the playoffs. They only made the playoffs because the Phillies and Giants could not get the job done. Also, it’s the Dodgers, we all know how good they are.
Prediction: Dodgers in 2
#4 Padres V. #5 Cardinals
The Padres are far and ahead the better team in this series. Their offense has been crazy good all season long, the only question mark for them is if Mike Clevinger and Dinelson Lamet is healthy to play. It will be real shitty if they lose their two best pitchers, but I do think their offense can carry them through this series.
Prediction: Padres in 3
#3 Cubs V. #6 Marlins
I mean the Cubs STINK. The only reason they got the #3 seed is because of how good they played in the beginning of the season. Now their offense is a dumpster fire and their starting pitching had a lot of question marks. With that said, the Cubs are winning this series. I am sorry Miami, but your undefeated postseason record ends now. It was cool you guys made the playoffs after everything you went threw, but the Cubs are better.
Prediction: Cubs in 3
#2 Braves V. #7 Reds
This is the best series of the NL and I have no idea who is winning it. The Braves have been sneaky good all season long and not a lot of people are talking about how dangerous they can be. On the other side you have Cincinnati who could make a run if they win this series. They are a dangerous team if their starting pitching can get it together. Besides Trevor Bauer, every starting pitcher had an ERA above 3.2. I do trust Castillo a little, but Cincinnati’s pitching is what’s going to screw them. Atlanta had one of the best offenses this year and will beat up on the Reds.
Prediction: Braves in 3
We are now onto the next round of the playoffs and I will not give an explanation for every game, just games I feel are important to explain.
#1 Rays V. #4 Indians
So what will screw Cleveland is the fact they cant use Shane Bieber or Zach Plesac every game, obviously. The Rays will take advantage of the games where the Indians lesser pitchers are playing and win this series.
Prediction Rays in 5
#2 Athletics V. #3 Twins
Prediction: Twins in 4
#1 Dodgers V. #4 Padres
What a series this will be if it happens. Two of the best team going at it, yes please. The only things that separates these two teams are pitching and experience. The Dodgers pitching staff is far and above better than San Diego, especially if Clevinger and Lamet are not playing. And the Dodgers have been here before and know this kind of pressure on them, all San Diego really has is Hosmer.
#2 Braves V. #3 Cubs
Braves in 3
#1 Rays V. #3 Twins
We are now in the league championship games and this is my shocker pick. I have the Twins making the World Series. There is a lot I love about this team, with their good pitching and offense that can be really good. This will be a close series, but Minnesota will win it in the end.
Prediction: Twins in 7
#1 Dodgers V. #2 Braves
This is also going to be a really good series, but because of the Braves pitching situation the Dodgers have the edge. The Dodgers are such a good team, there is no doubt they will make the World Series for the third time in four years.
Prediction: Dodgers in 5
#1 Dodgers V. #3 Twins
Finally time for the World Series and I think this the Dodgers finally do it. The Dodgers are the better team here, but the Twins pitching will help them stay in it. I think this will be a long series but the Dodgers are going to be the team to pull it together.
Prediction: Dodgers in 6
