For weeks now I have been saying, “WE WANT TUA.” Tua was an electric QB at Alabama and I really wanted to see him play in the NFL. Tua is going to be the franchise guy in Miami for years to come and I cannot wait to see how good he is going to be. The only problem is, they should have kept using Fitzpatrick. Ryan Fitzpatrick was having a good season thus far. The Dolphins are 3-3 and Fitzpatrick has thrown for 1535 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. The interception number is a little high, but with a neutral record, I don’t see it as that big of a problem. Fitzpatrick was having a season that was worthy enough to start him for the year.
The reason why you keep Fitzpatrick at starter for this season is because you know he is not the guy of the future. He is almost 38 years old so you know after this season that he is most likely gone. Let Tua learn from the bench, rehab from that almost career-ending hip injury and start him next season. He has all the time in the world to play, so no need to rush him in.
I am worried because from the reading that I did, yeah I actually did some research on this topic, the Dolphins offensive line is not very good. That scares me for Tua because if he is going to be getting hit, I do not see the point of playing him. Especially after their bye week when they have to play the Rams. Aaron Donald almost killed Alex Smith, I don’t see how he doesn’t do it again to Tua.
Who knows in a crazy year like this, the Dolphins could be a serious contender for making the playoffs, most likely making one of the lower seeded games. Fitzpatrick would have helped this team be a contender for the playoffs, I’m not so sure on rookie Tua. Also, if things start to crumble this season for Brian Flores, he would have the excuse that he did not get to use Tua yet. Now that excuse is gone, but I doubt Miami will fire him even if they do lose the rest of the game.
The saddest thing is, this might be the end of Ryan Fitzmagic. I don’t see a team starting him after the season so this might be a tribute piece to an all-time QB. It was a crazy ride for him so lets remember his best moments.
