WWE TLC 2020 Thots

Look at that, my first wrestling blog since May of last year. I have decided why not write a wrestling blog, I’m just sadly watching my Giants do absolutely do nothing and I really enjoyed this TLC pay-per-view. It’s the best thing I have seen from the main roster in a while and I was happy to see that. So here is my thots from TLC.

Drew McIntyre defeats A.J. Styles and The Miz in a TLC match and retains the WWE Championship
What a way to start of the night. It started off as a singles match between Styles and McIntyre and everything was great. Loved Styles approach to go after the leg of McIntyre early as that was a big factor in this match and then the thing happened that we all expected to happen. The Miz cashed in his money in the bank contract and made it a triple threat match. WWE made the Miz look like an complete idiot as he would slowly climb his way up the ladder and he could have easily won the match, but Omos, A.J. Styles bodyguard, cradled the Miz and threw him into a table. A funny spot as John Morrison hits Omos with a chair and the chair completely brakes over the back of Omos.

Omos then goes on to chase Morrison out of the arena, leaving no more interference for the match. The three wrestlers then all make it up a ladder and have a good 3-5 minutes of whos going to grab the title. In the end McIntyre won and that was the right decision. McIntyre had one of the best 2020s in wrestling and he should keep his title. I am disappointed on how the WWE has used the money in the bank the last few years as I saw a stat that said 4/5 last money in the bank winners failed to cash the briefcase in. That sucks because the MITB briefcase is an awesome tradition in the WWE and should, for the most part, result in success.

Sasha Banks defeats Carmella and retains the SmackDown Women’s Championship
I don’t have much to say about this match because I am not the biggest fan of Carmella. I do in fact love Sasha Banks, but I did not love this feud. It was a good match, but we all knew the end result would be. Happy that Banks retained and I wonder what direction the WWE will go in the future with the belt.

The Hurt Business defeats The New Day and win the Raw Tag Team Championship
Again, really loved this result. The Hurt Business are the best faction in wrestling today in my opinion and they deserved to win the tag straps. Cedric and Shelton are a mighty fine tag team and I like where they are going with Cedric Alexander. It looks like he’s going to be a more aggressive wrestler, as we saw tonight when he tagged himself in and won the match right after. I am also happy for Shelton Benjamin, who was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I think this is his first title win, not including the 24/7 championship, since 2007. Raw has a strong pair of tag teams with The New Day and The Hurt Business, but they need to build a stronger tag team outside those two because I honestly don’t know who else could legit challenge for the championship right now.

Asuka & Charlotte Flair defeat Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax and win the Women Tag Team Championship
This was the only thing I hated the whole night. This made zero sense as just last year, Asuka blew green mist into Charlotte’s eye. Why did Asuka pick her biggest rival in the WWE to be her partner. Nothing against Charlotte either, but the decision here mad no sense. What also made no sense was Shayne taking the pin. Nia Jax just got pinned by Lana a few weeks ago, she could take another pin here, especially when its against a crappy finisher like the Natural Selection. I guess I’m happy that Nia and Shayna are no longer champions because I never liked that pairing.

Match Rating: 6.8

Roman Reigns defeats Kevin Owens and retains the Universal Championship
Jesus Christ Roman Reigns is the best thing going on in all of wrestling. He made a crappy Universal Championship that I never cared about before this run into a true world championship. I mean this match was fucking awesome and it was my match of the night. Kevin Owens sold the shit out of everything Roman did and that’s why I love KO. I knew what the end results would be and I was still sad that Kevin Owens lost this match. He makes you want to cheer for him and when he lost this match I was actually sad for him.

The one thing that I didn’t like about this match was all the interference by Jey Uso. I felt like they could have kept the interference by Uso to the minimum, but it did add a lot of drama to the match and I respected that. In the end, Reigns won after beating KO’s ass and it resulted in a great TLC match. I wonder who Reigns’ next opponent will be because they don’t really have a guy that could go against him. They can run Daniel Bryan, which would be awesome, but I am not sure with who is next to take on Reigns.

Match Rating: 8.9

Randy Orton defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
This was not your typical inferno match. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t like what we are accustomed to, but I still loved this match. All the spots they did were awesome, I loved that there was fire popping up in the crowd. I still don’t know how Orton evaded the fire during the rocking chair spot. It looked like he just made it out in time. Everything here was great especially the finish. I loved how Orton pushed Bray into the fire and the fire didn’t faze him. He ran into the ring and into an RKO. Randy wins the match, The Fiend still looked strong and then the weird shit happened. Randy started to pour gasoline onto Brays body and you could tell they put a fake body in the ring before Randy lit “the body” on fire (what a weird thing to say, but that’s rasslin).

Match Rating: 8.3

Overall Thots:
Was the show predictable? Yes. I knew how every match, was going to go, but it was still a fun show. We got to see people that we like put in big spots. It wasn’t the same old WWE crap and we should be happy about that. For the first time in a while I am looking forward to watching Raw tomorrow night.
