The Pain Continues

Pain. Just pain. Now I know we shouldn’t overreact to the first game of the season because there are 161 more game left to play, but fuck that. I’m a sports fan, that what we do. When even the slightest thing happens, good or bad, we overreact because that’s all we can do and we are allowed to. Yesterday sucked. Like really really sucked. We wasted away another great start from Jacob deGrom, but that’s nothing new. That’s what the Mets do, but the first game of the season. What the fuck!

Also, outside of deGrom, the Mets flat out stunk. They had 10 total hits, which is very good, along with three walks. They were getting on base and that’s not the problem the Mets have had going back to last season. They lead the MLB in batting average last season, but there average with runners in scoring position was abysmal and yesterday was no different. On TWO (2) separate occasions we left the bases loaded and you have to imagine this lead to our loss. When we had Kevin Pillar going against righty Brandon Kintzler we probably should have brought in Dominic Smith there. I see why Luis Rojas didn’t as it was a very windy night and maybe its best Dom Smith didn’t have to deal with that wind, but he is worth it because of how good he is hitting the ball. Smith could have broken the game up even more in that one out bases loaded situation. We could have had a completely different game there if Smith pitch hits earlier in the game.

Another big mistake was taking out Jacob deGrom so early. When Jacob deGrom had only 77 pitched through 6 innings, we probably should have kept him for another inning. I know Trevor May would have come in regardless, but I am a big believer of the Butterfly Effect, so if deGrom pitched one more inning, then maybe Trevor Mat never blows the game, who knows. I’m just pissed off because things should be different and yesterday was a real eye opener that really scared me for what could happen. We had our defensive replacement in Luis Guillorme throw that daggering error in what maybe was the most confusing play ever. Both Guillorme and McCann are at fault because McCann put himself in a bad position to make that play. Then you have Guillorme, who probably had a better chance going for the double play then doing what he did. The ball was hit right to him and I felt like the easiest play was the double play.

The worst part of the night was the Mets trying to comeback. I didn’t need the Mets giving me false hope and that’s exactly what they did. Pete was so fucking close, but the biggest enemy of the the game was that fucking wind, which probably kept two of our ball in the park, the one by Pete and the other by McNeil. The fucking wind man. We just gotta move on though. We have Stroman on the mound today and I expect a much better game by the bullpen. I trust the Twitch streamer, I trust Aaron Loup, and I trust the Mets to get a win game two of the season. LFGM.
