Virginia Beach Sea Turtles
I don’t know why I’m doing this but I thought it would be fun. I guess this could be a fun spinoff of the popular “The 7 Billion Dollar Check Part 1” blog series (aka one blog that I stopped doing because I got bored). In the blog, I said I would have bought the Memphis Grizzlies because of them being the lowest valued franchise in the NBA and the NBA becoming one of the biggest sports in the world today, but now I am doing things differently. I will be purchasing an expansion team. Now, I have no idea how purchasing an expansion team works but let’s not worry about that. Let’s just say Adam Silver approved my purchase for $2.5 billion. Also, I’m not the only person that decided to make this purchase. I did have help from other investors in the Virginia area, but I am the majority owner and I have some extra spending cash.
So I have a team! Now you might be wondering, why Virginia Beach? Well, I am basing all of these stats on NBA 2k22, which is where I will do all the simulating for this scenario, and they apparently have a huge fan interest and it makes sense. They had one of the best college basketball teams in the country the last few years and their fan interest always seem high, even after that hilarious loss against UMBC in 2018. Now, I may have to compete against the Washington Wizards in fan interest as they are in the DMV area, but I am hoping that we can get fans from Virginia, West Virginia, and hopefully North Carolina because of how south Virginia Beach is in Virginia. For the team name, we are going with the Sea Turtles because 5/7 species of sea turtles live in Virginia Waters. Seems like a fitting name for me and here is the logo.

So with that out of the way, let’s talk about the team. For the arena, we built a new arena in North Virginia Beach near Fort Story off US-60. The name of the arena is the “Freddie Mac Arena.” Freddie Mac (AKA as Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.) is one of the biggest companies in Virginia and is the highest-ranked Fortune 500 company based in Virginia, so I find it fitting for them to have the naming rights for our arena. The arena can hold a total of 18,055 people. Here is a look at what the arena will look like (sorry for the annoying option bar on the side, can’t get rid of it).

Another major sponsorship decision we made was to allow Progressive to sponsor the uniform. They are known as one of the biggest insurance companies in the US, so with this, we would hope they we could get some nice financial composition for the sponsorship. Also, here is what the uniforms look like.

I’m not going to do any changes to other teams. I have an option to start in the offseason for the 2021-22 season, but I won’t. The only thing that I am going to do is the Expansion Draft, but I am not alone. Apparently, Mr. Bezos is trying to cuck me and decided to buy his own team in Seattle. I’m sure you can assume what their team name is going to be.
Now for the Expansion Draft, here is who we selected in the draft.
