That Was One of the Craziest Games I’ve Ever Seen

I mean god damn. Did I expect the first game of the season to go like that. For the Knicks to blow a 11 point lead, got to OT, have no one make a shot for 3 straight minutes and then go to a 2nd OT. It was one of the craziest games I’ve ever seen and this is how I know the Knicks are a new team.

The Knicks of the past do not win this game. The Knicks of the past get blown out in the first overtime and everyone in twitter is clowning us how we blew this game, but no. Now we are different. We are winning and in the big stage and I am in love with this team.

Lets start off with our king, Julius Randle. It took less than 30 seconds for Randle to do Randle things as he made a step back 3 for the first points of the season. Then he went on his scoring rampage in the 2nd quarter where he scored 11 points in 6 minutes of play. Quite impressive.

But in my opinion, his best quarter was the 3rd. He only ended up scoring 4 points, but he showed how good of a playmaker he is getting RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin rolling. Those where there two best quarters and it felt like Randle was the key to there success.

Seeing what Obi Toppin can do was amazing. He had his best game as a Knick by far and he was doing what he should always be doing. Running towards the rim and using that freak athleticism that he has.

Then the 4th quarter happened and all hell broke lose. We ended up blowing an 11 point lead with 4:28 left in the game and it was truly embarrassing. I couldn’t believe we come this far just to blow a lead like we did. Jaylen Browns 28 foot three. Terrible passes. Horrific defense. It was not a fun 4th quarter. It felt like everything was against us.

Overtime came and I could not believe what I was seeing. No one was missing for a 2 minute stretch. Fournier made three 3 pointers in a row, including an assist to RJ for a three. Celtics didn’t miss at all either. Ridiculous OT, but then the jelly legs came out. No one can shoot. No one can dunk. No one can pass. 3 straight minutes if terrible basketball. Followed by another 5 minutes of another OT where there was a total of 6 made FGs.

It was an ugly game, but all that matter in the end is that the Knicks won, and lost importantly they covered. Good team win, better teams cover, and that’s what the Knicks did.

And before I end the blog, RJ deserves massive credit for helping us in this game. He had the tough task of having to guard Jayson Tatum and he was up for the task. RJ had Tatum shooting 7/30 and 2/15 from three, including clutch defense in both OTs. Love to see that from RJ.
