Wrestlemania Night 2 Reaction

And just like that, the weekend pasts us, and we are out of Wrestlemania season. I don’t know about you, but that was the best Wrestlemania we have seen in a while, and I would put it up there as one of my favorites of all time. I had that much fun watching it, but let’s get into what I thought about the matches. And if you want to read my Night 1 reaction, click here.

Triple H

Before we get into the matches, I am very happy that Triple H got to say his thank you’s, especially in front of this crowd. Triple H is one of the best to do it, and after this crazy 6 months he had, he deserved it. Thank you, Triple H.

RK-Bro defeat The Street Profits and Alpha Acemdy and retained the Raw Tag Team Championship

Holy shit, what a match. Before the show, I was a little worried about how this match would go. I know everyone involved is very talented, but I was not sure what they would be allowed to do, but once I saw it would open the show, I knew we were in for a good one. Everyone looked great. Montez Ford continues to be an absolute star and looks great in anything you give him. Chad Gable was a great heel, and Otis made sure to show off his dominance. And just like I said, Randy Orton was so over.

When he got tagged in, the crowd went crazy. This iteration of Randy Orton is one of my favorites, and hope we have it for a little while longer. The spot of the match was Riddle doing a springboard RKO on Ford.  Something we’ve never seen before, and it was awesome. Randy hit Gable with a nice RKO as he jumped off the top rope and won the match. The post-match festivities between RK-Bro and Street Profits were fun, and it was cool to finally see Gable Steveson in the ring for the first time. Did a nice belly-to-belly to Chad Gable and toasted with the other tag teams.

Bobby Lashley Gives Omos His First Loss

This was a lose-lose situation for the WWE because they’ve been building Omos to be a monster for over a year now, but Lashley is the perfect person to give him his first loss. Lashley is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the WWE, so he is perfectly eligible to give him his first loss. We got the Andre/Hogan moment as Lashley suplexed Omos and got him off his feet. Nice win for Lashley, and I am excited to see what he does next.

Johnny Knoxville beats Sami Zayn in an “ Anything Goes” Match

This match was awesome, and if you don’t think so, you have a really big dump in your pants. This was a great comedy match. Sami Zayn is a real professional for doing this match, and he was perfect for it. Zayn is a hatable heel, making it easy to cheer for Knoxville. Also, as a Jackass fan, this match was great. We got Partyboy dancing on Zayn, Wee-Man bodyslamming Zayn, and a bunch of equipment to hurt Zayn. I loved the ending with Knoxville trapping Zayn under a huge mousetrap so he couldn’t kick out of a pin. A fantastic match.

Sasha Banks & Naomi defeat Liv for Brutality, Natalya & Shayna Baszler, and Carmella & Queen Zelina for the Women’s Tag Team Championship

This was a fun match. That’s all I have to say. There were some things I didn’t like about it, but there was thing I did like about it. I usually hate the “tower of doom” spot, but for some reason, I liked it in this match. The thing I disliked the most about this match was that only 2 superstars were allowed in the ring. I felt the match would have been better if we had 4 in at a time, but that’s my only problem with the match. I am happy that Sasha Banks finally has a win at Wrestlemania and it’s well deserved because she is one of the top women in WWE and top wrestlers.

Edge defeats AJ Styles with the help from Damien Priest

Just like the night before with Cody and Seth, this match started off slow, and I was concerned with how the match would go, but the end really picked up and changed my opinion of the match. Two of the best of all time had a real slobberknocker. You felt the hate between the two and felt like they really wanted to hurt one another. Also, AJ did a great job with selling his shoulder because it really felt like it came out of the socket and he had to put it back in. Like most people, I hate distraction finishes, but this was done really well and was explained really well. Damien Priest just appeared, and that would make sense why Styles got distracted. Why would Priest be out there? That was a good distraction, and the springboard spear on Styles looked great. I am looking forward to what happens with Styles and how the new faction moves on forward.

Match Grade: B

Ridge Holland and Sheamus defeat The New Day

This was stupid. No need for one of the greatest tag teams to lose as quick as they did. Quite disrespectful. It was cool to see how Woods and Kofi honored Big E by wearing a singlet. That’s the only positive thing about this match.

Match Grade: F

Pat McAfee defeats Austin Theory

What a match. Pat McAfee continues to show the star he is as he looked phenomenal in this match. I knew he was going to be good after his two NXT matches, but he still continued to impress me. Him talking on the commentary mic while he was beating on Theory was great. The spot of the match was when McAfee showed off his athleticism and jumped up onto the top rope to suplex Theory. I was a little disappointed that McAfee won the match with a roll up, but that’s not the biggest problem in the world.

Mr. McMahon squashes Pat McAfee

This was so weird. I don’t know why they had 76 year old squash McAfee like that. The only thing that would make me feel better about it is if McAfee asked for it, but we got a great moment after the match. Stone Cold came out and opened a can of whoop ass on Mr. McMahon and Austin Theory. Theory had a great sell of the stunner and then there was Mr. McMahon. It’s safe to say this was the worst one yet, but it was somehow perfect. McAfee would then celebrate with Austin and of course Austin stunnered McAfee. McAfee had a great sell and I was so happy for McAfee because that was probably his dream. To be stunned by Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. I’m guessing this leads to a match at Wrestlemania Backlash next month between the 4.

Roman Reigns Unfies the Titles

I don’t have much to say about this match. It was a very typical Reigns/Lesnar match. Nothing new, but it was still good. I’m hoping that we are done with this feud for a long time, but I have a sneaky suspicion that they will go one more time at Wrestlemania Backlash. I am happy that Reigns won because he deserves it. He is the most dominant wrestler in WWE and this win only continues to push that narrative.
