The Time For Disrespecting Daniel Jones Is Over

Hey guys, SmallDog Dan here and what better time to return to the blog game than the day before the Giants first postseason game since 2016. It’s been a wild year for the boys in blue, and it’s time we stop knelling on our great leader and pledge loyalty to Daniel Jones. I am sick and tired of all the hate Jones has gotten. It’s been 4 years and we still see Jones being hated on. This tweet really irritated me and is the reason why I’m writing this blog.

OVERRATED???? Daniel Jones has been disrespected by almost everyone his entire career. It took some Giants fans to finally realize DJ is a good player when the Giants clinched the playoffs against the Colts a few weeks back and he got a standing ovation.

As one of the longer believers of Daniel Jones and member of the Daniel Jones Hype Group, this brought a tear to my eyes. I was proud of my baby boy that finally people were giving him the recognition he deserves. Jones has been hated on his whole career, getting zero respect, the opposite of of overrated. People are just now realizing Jones has a lot of talent, but it’s not enough for people. Listening to New York sports radio and being around people who I talk sports with, he still doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Jones has undeniable been a good player this season and I dare say he’s been a really good player. And I really don’t care about whatever criticism he gets now. You can say Jones’ doesn’t have a lot of passing yards or his sack percentage was one of the highest in the league, but all I see is improvement from my QB.

Since the beginning. Jones has been dealt a poor, shitty, horrible, hand. Having to deal with crappy coaching and players around him. Jones head coaches before Brian Daboll was Pat Shurmur and Joe Judge. Two terrible coaches who had no ideas what they were doing. And let us nor forget Jason Garrett as his offensive coordinator for two seasons. Jones could never succeeded with those two coaches, and then you look at the player Jones had around him. Jones has no offensive line help besides Andrew Thomas and his receding core is terrible. In the 2020 and 2021 season, the Giants finished top 9 in drops and top 7 in drop percentage. Jones never had a good receiving core and it’s not like the season was any better as the Giants has the 11th highest drop percentage. With all of these factories hindering Jones’ ability he was still able to make it work all while lowering down the stat people have criticized him the most since his rookie season. No longer is Jones a “turnover machine,” if anything, he’s now one of the best at not losing the ball.

I think this is what they call in the business, improvement. Since his rookie season Jones has only improved and is showing he can be a guy you can rely on. If Jones can have a good core around him, I believe he will be able to succeed for this team. Jones has already become one of the best dual threat QBs in the NFL. Only Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts are better than him at this. Jones’ feet continue to be one of the best for a QB and when resigned next season, I hope Daboll gives Jones more challenging play calls and lets him air out the ball. Jones has a rocket for an arm so if he can get a good receiver who can dust the secondary, Jones’ passing yards will only go up.

This is only the start of the “Respect Daniel Jones Tour” and I will be at the helm of it. We will beat Minnesota tomorrow afternoon as Jones continues this great season and he will earn his contract extension for next season after this playoff run ending in him holding up the Lombardi Trophy.
