The Knicks Just Made the Worst Trade in NBA History

Why? Why did the Knicks just make the worst trade in NBA history? There is no coherent thought that could justify this trade. This trade doesn’t make the Knicks better. We are trading a starter who was averaging 18 PPG and our sixth man who was averaging 15 PPG for a player averaging 15 PPG and two bench players. The Knicks aren’t an OG Anunoby away from winning the championship. The Knicks should have waited to get a better return if you are going to make this trade. I don’t care what people say about Barrett. He is a good player. Immanuel Quickley would have been a great player if given the time. There was a better return, but Leon rose wanted to do something now.

It feels like Leon Rose wanted to pull the trigger on RJ Barrett after this bad stretch of games. He got impatient and was willing to make any move to send RJ out of here. But this wasn’t the correct move. The Knicks should have gotten a lot more for Barrett and Quickley. I get that Quickley has an expiring contract, but Barrett is locked up for three more seasons. Barrett and Quickley are significant improvements to any team. I don’t know what the move could have been for those two players, but anyone with a decent understanding of basketball would know that they should have gotten more than OG and two bench players.

I’m extremely sad and have no idea what the direction of this franchise is now. The Knicks have a lot of cap space now with Barrett’s big contract off the books, but when has that ever worked out in the Knicks favor? Big free agents never come here, and why would they now? Leon Rose is okay with trading people on the whim. This was a stupid decision that the Knicks will regret for the rest of the season. It’s a good thing the Knicks play tonight against the Pacers off a back-to-back with a depleted roster. Good timing on the trade.

I was going to write a weekly blog about the Knicks, but now I’m sad, so this is all you get. See you next Saturday:(
