Why Saquon, why.
My day just keeps getting better and better. I got to wake up at 5 AM for a shitty job, got to college to learn the history of Western African film, and during the said class, I learned that one of my favorite players has decided to become a turncoat. What Saquon Barkley did is downright disgraceful. I don’t care what people will say about money or team success. There are some things you don’t do. Going to a team rival is that. Because of that, Saquon gets to join the list of athletes I will hate to the day I die. The list composes of
- Trevor Bauer
- Chase Utley
- Derek Jeter
- Trae Young
- Noah Syndergaard
- Saquon Barkley
It’s not a long list, but I will forever hate those players no matter what happens, and Saquon joins the list now. Another part of this signing that irks me is this new narrative that the Giants didn’t give Saquon an offer.
This narrative is going around, and Saquon even retweeted it. Hey buddy, I don’t know if the CTE is doing wonders yet, but the Giants made a very similar offer two years ago, and if I’m not mistaken, Saquon turned it down. The Giants tried retaining Saquon, but he didn’t want to be a part of this team anymore. He went to the better team. I would wish for him just to say that instead of all these reporters regurgitating what Saquon Barkley’s agent told them to say. That was not the only significant player the Giants lost today.
Some would say Xavier McKinney is a significant loss for them, but I was never a big fan of McKinney. I always wished that the Giants held onto Julian Love last offseason. Love is a better safety and played much harder than McKinney, especially when it came to tackling players. Love would always make the tackle while McKinnley had his difficulties. So, what next for Big Blue?
The Giants got the best running back in the market. I love the move to get Devin Singletary. Singletary was the right move to make. He is the cheaper option and is so much better than Barkley. You don’t believe me?

So much better. With Singletary in the right offense, we might see a 1500-yard rusher. The Giants also got an offensive lineman who I have no opinion on. Half my Giants group chat likes the move, and half doesn’t. Either way, we are in a transition period with New York. It was not the best start to the offseason, but I will hold my tongue a little. Getting rid of Saquon was the right move. It sucks that the Giants couldn’t have moved him for draft picks, but it had to be done. They already made the biggest NFL mistake of drafting a RB in the first round, don’t make the second biggest mistake of paying a RB. For now, I will be patient and wait until most of the major free agents sign and what New York does with their money. I will also wait for the draft because there is one move the Giants can do to make me disown them: drafting JJ McCarthy. As long as they don’t draft him, everything will be fine in my world.
In closing, screw you, Saquon, you will forever be hated.
