And just like that, the WWE is so fucking back! Maybe one of the greatest nights of wrestling I have ever experienced, and the high I have 12+ hours later, is still there. Almost everything I wanted to happen happened, but before we get to the main event, let’s talk about the other matches.
Drew McIntyre defeats Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship
Just a fun way to start off the show. It wasn’t the best-executed match I wanted it to be, but from the start, it was balls to the wall. Finisher after finisher. A crazy match, and Drew McIntyre finally got his WrestleMania. It was great to see his emotions, but in the end, his emotions got the best of him.
Match Rating: 7/10
Damien Priest cashed in Money in the Bank Briefcase and won the World Heavyweight Championship
Drew McIntyre did everything he told Seth not to do. He focused on someone else, and it ended up biting him in the ass. CM Punk snapped on Drew, attacking him with his arm brace, which led to Damien Priest finally executing his cash-in. Last night if you had told me Priest was cashing in, I would have been pissed, but it was such an awesome moment, and Priest finally became the world champ.
Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits defeat The Final Testament
A short match, but it was still pretty fun. It was as chaotic as the ladder match from the previous night but still had its moments. I enjoyed Bubba Dudley being a special guest referee, and Snoop Dogg on commentary was hilarious. The right people won, but hopefully, Karion Kross will do something meaningful soon.
Match Rating: 6/10
LA Knight defeated AJ Styles
These two didn’t have much time, but man, did they make every second meaningful. This was by far LA Knights’s best match of his WWE career, which goes to show how good AJ Styled still is. I don’t know what’s next for Styles, but LA Knight should be going after a title next, preferably the U.S. Championship.
Match Rating: 7/10
Logan Paul Retains the U.S. Championship against Kevin Owens and Randy Orton
Another fun match as these three were really good with one another. I loved that KO and Orton teamed up against Paul until they could no longer. Randy and KO had a great RKO spot, but sadly, Ownes couldn’t have a moment with himself and Sami. Logan Paul continues his reign, and I don’t mind it because he continues to be so good inside the ring. Hopefully, he and LA Knight are up next because that will be a good feud. Also, why was Speed there???
Match Rating: 7/10
Bayley defeats Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship
The women’s title matches really showed out this weekend. It wasn’t as good as Rhea/Becky, but it was still really damn good. As a fan of Bayley since her NXT days, I’m so happy she finally got her WrestleMania moment. From being a 4 Horsewoman to carrying the women’s division during the pandemic, she deserved this moment. I don’t know what’s next for Bayley, but if I know WWE, there are more members of Damage CTRL to deal with.
Match Rating: 8/10
Cody Rhodes defeats Roman Reigns and wins the WWE Championship
He did it! He finally finished his story, and I was so close to tears last night. Just like Bayley, no one deserved this moment more. Cody Rhodes reinvented himself so much all these years, and he deserves to be on top after the greatest WrestleMania of all time. And I genuinely believe it is the greatest. Usually, when WWE calls stuff the greatest “whatever,” it never lives up to the hype, but this WrestleMania did. Triple H has control of the whole damn thing and made it great. From the surprise returns of John Cena and the Undertaker, the overbooking made this match magical.
But most importantly Cody won. Cody is our new champ, and now a new story begins. I can’t wait to see what Cody does now that he’s on top, but what do Roman and The Rock do? Roman Reigns had a fantastic reign as champion that will cement him as the greatest of all time, but now he needs to refigure himself out. I can’t wait to see what happens tonight on Raw because I have a feeling it’s going to be an all-timer.
