OG Anunoby Scores a Career-High as New York Dismantles the Nuggets: Game #17 Blog

Final Score: Knicks 145-118 Nuggets
Knicks Record: 10-7

Yes, I am back! I know I have failed Knicks Country after missing the blog last game, but I have a confession to make. I barely watched the game against Utah. I slept through all of the first half, and once I saw the Knicks blow their comeback during the 2nd half, I turned the game off. Hand up, that’s on me. I will beat the allegations that I only write blogs after Knicks wins, but it’s too bad the Knicks won’t lose another game this season. It’s hard to prove me otherwise because these Knicks are looking real good. The Knicks destroyed the Nuggets last night. From the start of the game until the end of it, the Knicks were the better team. At least, that’s what I think because I also missed the first quarter of the game. I have officially entered my washed unc phase of my life. Any 24-year-old person would use the ESPN/Real/whatever sports app you use to find out the game’s start time. Not me. I decided to use the guide on my TV to find the start time, but it was just wrong. On my TV, it said the game started at 10, which was utterly wrong. I have all the technological needs on my phone and decided to use my TV. I am officially washed.

Enough about me because now it’s time to completely glaze OG Anunoby. The other day, I was thinking about my favorite current Knicks, and I put him at #2 behind Brunson. OG has been one of the most productive players I have ever seen. He does everything. He’s one of the best defensive players in the sport, and somehow, his offense has been the best part of his game this season. This season, OG is averaging a career-high 19.1 PPG while shooting 52% from the field and 42% from three, which are also career highs. OG has been outstanding this season, and that was shown to the rest of the world last night as OG Anunoby scored a career-high 40 points. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think OG had this in him when New York traded for him last season. He continues to get better every game and deserves every cent of that contract that people said he was overpaid. It’s seeming like OG got underpaid.

Last night, OG scored a career-high 40 points, but he wasn’t the only one to get a career-high. All of a sudden, Jalen Brunson wants to be the best passer in basketball. Along with averaging a career-high in assists per game, 7.9, Brunson had his most assists in a game last night with 17. It was career-high night last night for New York, but it wasn’t just OG and Brunson who were breaking personal records. The team as a whole had a great offensive night as the Knicks tied their most assists, 45, in a game in franchise history. That’s been the trend this season for the Knicks success. In the first 9 games of the season, the Knicks averaged 22 assists per game and went 4-5 in those games. In their last 8 games, they are averaging 32 assists per game and are 6-2 in that span. The Knicks played some easier teams in the last 8 games, but when they are moving the ball around and helping other players score, the Knicks become a much better team. Those 32 assists per game would be two more than the Warriors, who are averaging the most this season.

Also, I want to give a quick shoutout to Karl-Anthony Towns because it feels like he needs to get more love after the game he had. Of course, most of the love will go to OG and Brunson for their career performances, but KAT had himself a night as well. 30 points and 15 boards? Just another easy night for our all-star center. At this rate, the Knicks may have 3 all-stars.

Now, let’s see what the Knicks have up next.

The next game for the Knicks is tomorrow night in Dallas. The good news for the Knicks is that Luca Doncic will miss this game. Doncic is out with a wrist injury, so the Knicks will miss the Mavericks best player. The bad news is that this same exact scenario happened last year, and the Knicks lost. Last year, Kyrie put up 44 when the Knicks visited Dallas, and New York lost 128-124. It was a brutal loss were Tim Hardaway Jr. was also lighting up his former team, scoring 32 points. But this game will be different. The Knicks are on a role right now, as long as they don’t play in Utah. It should be a close game, but New York will come out of this game with a win, and I will be somewhat happy going into Thanksgiving. Now, lets look at the good vibes this team is bringing. Some would even say, immaculate.
