He wasn’t the catcher that was promised but he was the next best thing and I am so happy right now. For the first time in my lifetime as a Mets fan, the Mets have a good catcher on the team. No more Brian Schneider’s, John Buck’s, Travis d’Arnaud’s. We will now have a legit catcher who can play on both sides of the field. It’s very exciting! McCann is coming off a season where he only played in 31 of the 60 games, not sure why he didn’t play all the games, but he hit .289 with 7 home runs and 15 RBIs.
I am excited to see how he plays offensively this season, but the best part of McCann game is his defense. It will be a nice change of pace after having to watch Wilson Ramos behind the plate for the past two season to now have a guy who is considered one of the better defensive catchers. I just hope to see my catcher stop players from stealing on all our pitchers because for some reason, the Mets have the slowest pitchers in the MLB.
Hopefully this will be the start of the dominos falling as more and more players start to sign with teams because I am getting unrestful. I mean, why does it take so long for the MLB offseason to heat up. It takes the NBA seconds for players to start signing places, but for the MLB, we are now more than a month in and I think I can count on one hand the amount of notable signings in the MLB. Lets picks things up and announce George Springer to the Mets. That will really make the dominoes fall.
